SedonaWishList.org is a free, local website based on the idea that the community will respond when it knows what is needed. Details and contact information for the 89 member service organizations are available on their individual SedonaWishList.org web page.

Thank you for mentioning this column when contacting the organization in need. It is the only way we can track our success.

Astara Fisher, New Sedona Wish List Director

I am very pleased to welcome and entrust responsibility for Sedona Wish List to Astara Fisher, our Assistant Director, who has been  gathering news from our members and "learning the ropes" of running Sedona Wish List.  As Founder, I have tried to engender "Acts of Kindness". They were my pleasures – and the basis for Sedona Wish List.  These are also at the heart of Astara's personal mission as she has dealt with fundraising, motivation building for non-profits and even starting a non-profit of her own. Sedona Wish List has always had the mission of  providing for Sedona's service organizations.  Astara's encouragement of  member organizations to return the favor with "Offers" of services, resources and personnel to other members and to the community in general will add another dimension to Sedona Wish List.

Many thanks to the Sedona community and The Red Rock News for having faith in Sedona Wish List over the past three and a half years.  May you all be rewarded and enjoy the next chapter with Astara.

Best "Wishes" to all, as I head back to my sculpture studio.

Volunteers Needed:

Sedona Gay Pride is beginning to put together the committees needed for their fun, educational "Free 2B You Festival" held on the last weekend of September. They need Volunteers to make it a big success by signing up to help in one of three areas - the Festival Operations/Entertainment Committee, the Vendor Committee or the Sponsor Committee. Sedona Gay Pride's Festival celebrates diversity, provides education and raises money for scholarships for LGBTQ youth they serve, to further their education and regain their self-confidence when family and other support is not available.

Chamber Music Sedona would very much appreciate a couple Volunteers to help on a regular basis for the 2014/2015 season by assisting with clerical and computer tasks, managing volunteers and pre-event preparation.

Humane Society of Sedona needs front desk Volunteers who are computer literate and have good phone skills. As the first point of contact they would help with the intake process for strays and surrendered animals, as well as for adoptions. If interested, please log on to Sedona Wish List to find out details for follow up.

Goods & Services Needed:

Friends of Slide Rock still needs another outdoor umbrella, tables and chairs for their hard working volunteers in their demonstration garden this summer. Despite the Park's setbacks since May 20, it is now open at reduced cost with no creek access until September while the  volunteers continue adjusting, planting, weeding AND answering visitors' questions and giving garden tours. They are more than happy to make arrangements for pick up or delivery of donated items. You will find them on Sedona Wish List.

Funding Needed:

Red Earth Theatre is beginning their long hoped for Bilingual Theatre Project, "Performing Latino Life", to the Verde Valley in partnership with the Sedona Arts Center and with donations from individuals and businesses. Over eight months, theatre workshops will be brought to older teens and adults in the area, creating a brand new performance piece which will lead to a Northern Arizona tour, a book and a video of the live show.  Red Earth Theatre is using tax deductible contributions to pay the Program Manager and Workshop Facilitators for their workshops and for their continuing work. "Performing Latino Life" validates the adult Latino experience in Northern Arizona, develops a confident, experienced pool of Latino performers and creates a collaborative bridge between cultures through the arts.
