The Museum is assembling stories from local pioneer families with the hopes of publishing a book of these stories. We need a typist to type any hand-written stories and to assemble these and typed stories into a manuscript. For more information.

Are you an educator or story-teller who would like to work with 3-D items to create changing Museum exhibits? Do you enjoy research, creatively writing stories, and hands-on experiences? Would you be perfect to join the Museum's Exhibits Committee? We launch 3 changing exhibits per year. The committee uses materials in the Collection to tell stories thru artifacts and historic photos.

To type up some genealogy pages of local pioneer families. This project is a combination of organizing (in a structured manner so it is easy to read and follow), typing and a little research when inconsistencies or gaps appear . We have most of the information, but it is handwritten and sometimes illegible. A little research might make the information more complete and valuable.

Dedicated group of Museum volunteers present monthly {Pioneer Day educational program to local 4th grade classes. Many opportunities but specifically looking for 1-2 people who would demonstrate branding. We supply script materials and equipment. Weave yarns and tales about cowboy life and ranching history. Each child gets a 'take away' branded item. This activity is the most popular part of this program.

Calling all artists or cartoonists or photoshop persons who would like to create a comic book about the Sedona Heritage Museum or a local history story. The drawings can be original or, In Photoshop, we could provide historic photos that could perhaps be 'enhanced' such that they are converted to line drawings or such and could become the images in the comic book. Captions and story can be by this volunteer or by another. Two volunteers could work together - one for story and one for graphics

Wanted - volunteer

If you like computer research and want to volunteer from home, the Museum would like to obtain copies of the homestead case files for Sedona area homesteads from the National Archives. We have the web links, request forms and names of the local homesteaders. You login, find the file and complete the request on our behalf! Educational & interesting. You can help fill in gaps in local history about our earliest settlers.

Oral histories as told by Sedona old-timers need to be transcribed from audio & video tapes. We have the equipment and some funding. Do you have skills, interest and time? We have 3 tapes needing immediate transcription. We can offer examples and some training. This can be done at Museum or at your home, on your schedule. Call Janeen for more information.

Need someone to go online at NAU's Cline Library archives and go through three guest registers from the famous Todd's Lodge (now Garlands) and find signatures and notations from famous and noteworthy people that have stayed there since the 1930s - maybe presidents, movie stars, famous artists, etc.

Do you like retail? Maybe you have a friend and the two of you want a fun volunteer opportunity where you can work together? Itching to use your retail experience in a fun and relaxed setting? The Museum needs 2 volunteers for 2-4 hours/week for buying, pricing, merchandising/display, and store oversight. Enjoy time with the existing Gift Shop team, the Museum Docents and the local artists, crafters and vendors who supply the shop.
