DONATE Foods for Weekend Emergency Food Packs for local schoolchildren

See all wishes from Sedona Community Food Bank

Description

Every week during the school year, we provide local schoolchildren in need with weekend food packs to take home in order to supply them with nutritional food they would otherwise go without. We need multiple, SINGLE-SERVING-SIZED nutritional foods for these packs, specifically: small fruit cups or applesauce cups, small single-serving peanut butter ("Jif-To-Go" for instance), granola bars, cheese & cracker packs, and 100% juice boxes (they MUST be 100% juice). A box, a case, however many you can give would be a huge help. Thank you! Call us at 204-2808 for details or stop by the food bank Mon-Thurs 8 - 12. We are located in the lower level of the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Sunset Dr. Be sure to visit our website, too - www.sedonafoodbank.org where you'll find more information on how you can help us!

Funds to Support Pet Friendly Shelter

See all wishes from Verde Valley Sanctuary

Description

Our capital campaign to build a four-bedroom pet friendly addition to our shelter continues. We frequently have clients who are in desperate need of safe shelter but will not come to the Verde Valley Sanctuary because we cannot accommodate their pets. The current configuration of the 28 bed shelter is often quite crowded and not conducive to adding animals into the mix. We are grateful for the donations that already have come in. It’s a great start but we have a long way to go.

Veterinarians for Animal Welfare

Description

LOOKING FOR VETERINARIANS FOR ANIMAL WELFARE IN NORTHERN ARIZONA (VERDE VALLEY)

Giving of ourselves: our time, love and compassion to the animals in need is what is most important to us at Red Rose Inspiration For Animals as we have been providing free services to felines and canines in this community for over 7 years now. However, we wonder what will happen to the animals if we are not able to continue providing services?

We have been instrumental in the Verde Valley. Focused heavily in Camp Verde, Rimrock, Cottonwood and Cornville.

We are unique as 501c3 in animal welfare as we don’t have a facility and our focus is not taking in animals and adopting them out. Although we have done it in the past and on occasion we will still do it but our specialty is providing services in animal welfare.

With all the animal organizations in the Verde Valley we try to be particular and service the community in which we live on a different level as it wouldn’t do the animals any good if we all did the same thing. Fortunately, the one common goal we all have is to spay and neuter and make a difference in the over pet population as that is the most important goal for all of us universally. That is what we at Red Rose believe makes the biggest impact within our community.

TNR (Trap Neuter Return for Feral Cats) is a service we have been providing regularly since 2012. We have compassionate, experienced volunteers who set the traps and transport these kittens/cats to the vet and then return and release them back to their environment. Young kittens caught early enough are vaccinated, treated medically, altered and adopted out an experience that is life changing obviously for the better.

At Red Rose we assist homeless animals with emergency medical care. All animals including feral cats involved with Red Rose are treated for any medical conditions before being released. When pet owners on a
fixed income find themselves experiencing an emergency situation with their companion animal they are not always prepared to even cover the cost of an exam let alone medication and testing. With our help many pet owners have mentioned “they were able to keep their pet instead of having to give them up due to the cost and treatment.”

Red Rose has assisted hundreds of pet owners (especially seniors) in dire need so that they don’t further delay the animal having to suffer due to financial challenges.

We also assist with free spay and neuter services of felines and canines. Not only assisting pet owners who can’t afford the low cost spay neuter clinics in our community but also homeless animals that are either trapped or found as strays by kind compassionate people that are struggling financially and can’t take on the necessary veterinarian cost. Before moving any animal into the next phase we always encourage individuals to spay and neuter and offer financial assistance when they are in need. Spaying and neutering litters of kittens and puppies and the adult dogs that contributed to their existence whenever possible.

Now Red Rose has reached an obstacle in animal welfare as we currently do not have working veterinarian partners at this time. We cannot possibly continue the work we do without a veterinarian.

We need more veterinarians willing to provide rescue pricing as we have pet owners wanting and desperately needing the services for their pets, not to mention the homeless animals. Our long term, dedicated, compassionate veterinarian partner since 2012 in Camp Verde is not able to continue assisting many in animal welfare at this particular time being a sole practitioner, without an additional vet.

The unfortunate part is many of the veterinarians in the Verde Valley are not willing to provide discounted services and that is a real obstacle for us because pet owners that are financially challenged needing emergency services have practically nowhere to turn if we don't have veterinarians willing to assist us. Many of the people we often assist don’t have credit cards and many try to apply for Care Credit at the veterinarian’s office only to be denied. Then what? Their animal is not serviced and is left to suffer. This has and continues to happen quite often.

Another problem is many veterinarians will not provide services to feral felines so they will not assist us with our TNR program either. We have had to cut back drastically in the last 12 months on the services because of this situation. You are probably wondering have we reached out to all the additional veterinarians in the area……the answer is yes and multiple times, with no luck. Thankfully the Village Vet Clinic in the Village of Oak Creek has been helping us out temporarily and with emergencies.

Animals left to continue to reproduce often wind up abused, injured, or neglected as shelters across the country are filled with animals that are euthanized daily due to over pet population as we simply can’t adopt our way out of this problem.

In August and September 2017 we spent over $5,036.00 and assisted 52 cats, 20 dogs and 1 rabbit. Just recently in October, November and December we spent $3,716.17 and spayed 25 females, neutered 22 males and assisted 8 pet owners with emergency medical services through our compassionate veterinary partners. In the last two weeks no services are being provided because we do not have a veterinarian partner.

We cannot predict when things will change. Who knows what the future holds in 2018? Perhaps we will be fortunate to find a generous, retired, veterinarian willing to volunteer their time to helping our mission or we will be fortunate to open a clinic in the future. We encourage our supporters to help us find a veterinarian either a volunteer or a new professional to the area or one that is contracted.

When you support Red Rose 100% of the proceeds from our fundraising efforts from the Red Rose Thriftique and our Red Rose Art Shows go to the overall mission of Red Rose Inspiration For Animals. 100% of a monetary donor’s donation goes directly to assisting the animals. No administrative cost or salaries as we are a small, volunteer based organization making a huge difference in the lives of animals throughout the Verde Valley.

On our 990 for the year 2016 we had a 99.98 percent rating for public support which we are quite proud of, as with us it’s all about servicing the animals. We are asking for anyone passionate about our mission to help us continue the work we do. We are most grateful for all we have accomplished through the years and continue to accomplish. Thank you for sharing and supporting us.

Help Wanted at Red Rose Inspiration For Animals

We need people who love animals and people.

Looking for volunteers who are interested in working in a unique high quality retail thrift and artist boutique the Red Rose Thriftique in the Village of Oak Creek, Sedona. We are open 7 days a week and need volunteers for a variety of shifts and hours.

We are a very small volunteer based organization that makes a huge difference in the community by offering FREE spay and neuter services to pet owners that are financially challenged. We also provide emergency vet care and help with surgeries for seniors living on a fixed income helping them get their animal companion the urgent care they need and deserve.

We also specialize in assisting homeless animals with spay/neuter, vaccinations and medical and finding forever homes.

In addition to providing sponsorship in a transitional home for pet owners who find themselves and their animal existing in extreme weather conditions living on the streets.

Two of our tools for getting dogs adopted are running low: dog leashes and large zip-lock baggies. Volunteers to Assist with Events

See all wishes from Red Earth Theatre

Description

The Sedona Posse Grounds Hub, is a flexible, affordable performing arts venue, available on a sliding scale rental to any in the community who wish to teach, rehearse, perform

Managed by Red Earth Theatre there are workshops classes concerts, art openings and other events that often need someone to assist managing concessions, help at the door, and generally welcome the public to the Hub.

We are also seeking someone to help getting flyers out into the public and occasionally need extra help in the office or with preparing events and sometimes a we really need a handyman for the Hub.

Red Earth Theatre also often has events where we warmly embrace volunteers to assist in similar ways.

A great way to support the local arts community and usually have a fun time doing it. Check out the Hub at www.sedonahub.org and www.redearththeatre,org for more in what we do and offer and see where YOU can be part of family.

Large Dog Sweaters

The larger dogs at the Humane Society of Sedona are wishing for large dog sweaters. Some of our large dogs prefer to have their doggie-door open to the outdoors at night. They can go inside or outside freely – but we still worry they will get cold…so every night they each get a sweater. We are running low on large sweaters and are wishing for some new or used to be donated. The Boomboom Pet Dog Clothes, Fashion Autumn Winter Knitted Sweater on Amazon for $8.58 would be great!

LOOKING FOR VETERINARIANS FOR ANIMAL WELFARE IN NORTHERN ARIZONA (VERDE VALLEY)

When pet owners on a fixed income find themselves experiencing an emergency situation with their companion animal they are not always prepared to even cover the cost of an exam let alone medication and testing.

Our two long term, dedicated, compassionate veterinary partners are not able to service us at this particular time. They are very limited normally to the amount of animals they can see through our organization. They have many of their own clientele requiring their services and they are sole practitioners still trying to help out an animal welfare organization because it’s important to them as veterinarians to give back and they are passionate about our cause and the work we do and the animals we serve.

One generous veterinary clinic in the Village of Oak Creek is in the process of trying to assist us at least temporarily.

Perhaps we will be fortunate to find a generous, retired, veterinarian willing to volunteer their time to helping our mission or we will be provided with a mobile unit or clinic is in our future.

Sometimes fresh chicken is all they will eat!

See all wishes from Humane Society of Sedona

Description

The Humane Society of Sedona regularly gets tiny little dogs surrendered by their owners or transferred-in from other shelters. Often times these little ones are so scared, overwhelmed, and sad that they will not eat dog food. We try everything…hand-feeding, warming in the microwave… to no avail. Fresh rotisserie chicken is the secret! Some weeks we buy several chickens from Safeway. Our Sedona Wish is for Safeway Gift Cards so we can buy fresh chicken and keep our little dogs fed and happy.

Give the Gift of Love to Animals

Description

Give the Gift of Love through FREE Spay/ Neuter Helping Felines and Canines in Need.

At Red Rose we have always believed Free Spay and Neuter is the Solution to Over Pet Population. For years, when only a few local organizations were providing low cost services we were offering FREE Spay/Neuter Services all along. In addition unknown to many pet owners we at Red Rose were sponsoring to have their animal spayed or neutered for FREE through those low cost clinics and organizations.

As we still continue to offer FREE services today, the need for free services continues to grow today due to extremely limited or suspended low cost clinics in the Verde Valley in the past year and half. We need the communities help to keep up with the demand.

Our targeted areas of focus are: Camp Verde, Rimrock, Cornville and Cottonwood.

In August and September Red Rose has spent a total of $5,036.34 on programs assisting 52 cats, 20 dogs and 1 rabbit. In October, November and December 2017 we spent over $3,700.00 with 25 Spays, 22 Neuters and 8 Emergency Medical Situations ......

The cost included: Emergency Medical Care, Spay/Neuter Services for homeless animals and assisting pet owners on a limited budget. In addition to Special Pet Prescription Food and TNR (Trap/Neuter Release of Feral Felines)

With 9 programs in animal welfare it’s often difficult to fund every single program and continue to keep it fully funded.

Support a small volunteer based animal welfare organization, Red Rose Inspiration For Animals. As 100% percent of your donations go towards the animals in need. No administrative cost or salaries.

Please consider making a donation today as your contribution is most needed and appreciated.

Tax deductible checks can be sent to Red Rose Inspiration For Animals, P.O Box 74, Sedona, AZ 86339 or visit the website at www.redroseinspiration.org or visit the Red Rose Thriftique at 41 Bell Rock Plaza in the Village of Oak Creek to make a donation.

Give the Gift of Love and Help a Homeless Feline this Valentines Day

Description

Give the Gift of Love and Help to a Homeless Feline this Valentines Day

Red Rose Inspiration for Animals is in need of additional funding for it's ongoing TNR (trap/neuter/release program which rescues feral cats). Our need throughout the Verde Valley continues to grow and funding is low.

In October, November and December 2017 we spent over $3,700.00 in assisting homeless animals and pet owners in need. The cost included Emergency Medical Care, Free Spay/Neuter Services and TNR (Trap/Neuter and Release of Feral Felines)

TNR needs $2,000 to alter 40 homeless felines that would otherwise continue to re-produce. Many of these felines are often neglected, abused or injured and reproducing off spring. We take in the kittens young enough to be domesticated, we alter and vaccinate them and provide medical treatment if required then we adopt them out through our collaborative efforts.

Tax deductible checks can be sent to Red Rose Inspiration For Animals, P.O Box 74, Sedona, AZ 86339 or visit the website at www.redroseinspiration.org or visit the Red Rose Thriftique at 41 Bell Rock Plaza in the Village of Oak Creek to make a donation

100% of your donation goes directly to assisting the animals. No administrative costs as we are a small, volunteer based organization making a huge difference in the lives of animals throughout the Verde Valley. Thank you for your consideration.

Funding for Emergency Medical Services Program

Description

Looking for a way to make a difference in the lives of animals this Valentines Day?

Have you loved and lost a pet who meant the world to you?

Do you want to help other animals through your love for your pet?

The founder of Red Rose Inspiration For Animals has and created the organization as a way to give back to animals less fortunate through her beloved Rosey a rescue pup that inspired it all.

Red Rose is a local Sedona based 501c3 nonprofit is a very small group of volunteers.

Founded in 2009 Red Rose helps pet owners spay and neuter animal companions for free, provides emergency medical services for homeless felines and canines and assists pet owners on a fixed income getting the veterinary care they desperately need. The focus is reducing the over pet population; preventing felines and canines from potentially being injured, abused or neglected.

In October, November and December 2017 Red Rose spent over $3,700.00 with 25 spays, 22 neuters and 8 emergency medical needs.

With 9 programs in animal welfare it’s often difficult to fund every single program and continue to keep it fully funded.
However, the need to assist the community continues to grow as we service the whole Verde Valley. Especially Camp Verde, Rimrock, Cornville and Cottonwood.

When pet owners on a fixed income find themselves experiencing an emergency situation with their companion animal they are not always prepared to even cover the cost of an exam let alone medication and testing.
Red Rose has assisted many pet owners in dire need so that they further delay the animal having to suffer due to financial challenges.

Your donation to the Emergency Medical program will continue to help us to make a difference in the lives of these companion animals.

We feel fortunate to have been able to make a difference in the lives of so many animals needing our service. Please consider supporting the work, we do, 100% of your donation goes directly to assisting the animals through our programs. No administrative costs or salaries!. Choose the program that touches your heart through Red Rose. . Thank you.

Description

Steps to Recovery Homes would like you to know that Arizona allows LOCAL non-profits to receive a significant part of your state tax dollars. It hopes that you will use YOUR tax credits to support its mission to take individuals suffering with addictions off the street so they can be taught to be productive members of their families and in society. With addiction said to be the biggest crisis in America, affecting our homes, businesses, neighborhoods, families, and jobs, why not use your Charitable Tax Credits to help it build a healthy local solution to addiction in our own community! State taxes are normally taken from some of our earned income and given to programs outside of our communities. Why not put your taxes to good use at home where you can see the benefits! Form 321 is used to get a dollar for dollar tax credit up to $800 if filing jointly or $400, as an individual. You can do it by mail to: 516 east state route 89a suite 113 cottonwood az. 86326, by calling 928-649-0077, or at http://stepstorecoveryhomes.org/az-tax-credit-donation/ Remember, a tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction of the income tax you owe. For example, if you owe $1,000 in state taxes but are eligible for a $1,000 tax credit, you owe zero dollars.

Canned Kitten Food & Dryer Sheets

See all wishes from Humane Society of Sedona

Description

It's only January, but we're already beginning to see homeless kittens in need. That means we have some very fragile, very tiny mouths to feed. We've been so very fortunate in the past when we've needed special food for the pets in our care, and we're hoping once again our community will come through for us. Our favorite is Fancy Feast Tender Turkey Canned Kitten food, but other brands will work - it just has to be specifically for kittens. The other thing we're in need of is dryer sheets. I know it sounds mundane but keeping this many pets comfy, cozy, and warm requires we dozens and dozens of loads of laundry every day. That means dozens and dozens of dryer sheets are needed to keep everything smelling fresh and reduce static electricity.

In Need of Electronics that are a Hot Commodity, Small Furniture and More

Description

In August and September 2017 Red Rose has spent a total of $5,036.34 on programs assisting 52 cats, 20 dogs and 1 rabbit,.

From the beginning we have been supporting the organizations mission and programs through a variety of events such as our small, quality Art Shows exclusively in West Sedona, created to help the non-profit generate revenue for the various programs and future rehab center. In 2014 the vision for the Red Rose Thriftique a unique thrift store and artist boutique originated from the art shows. The concept: to provide an upscale, quality, inexpensive, one of a kind shopping experience for visitors as well as locals; guilt free shopping for a cause located at 41 Bell Rock Plaza in Village of Oak Creek.

We are in need of the latest electronics that are in high demand such as ipods for music, ipads as they are popular selling items that in turn can support revenue for our thriftique. We are also in need of designer clothing for men and women, kitchen and bath items, home decor and small pieces of furniture..

Thank you for continued support of the Red Rose Thriftique

Give the Gift of Love through Free Spay/Neuter to Low Income Pet Owners

Description

Give the Gift of Love through FREE Spay/ Neuter to Low Income Pet Owners

In August and September 2017 Red Rose has spent a total of $5,036.34 on programs assisting 52 cats, 20 dogs and 1 rabbit, The cost included: Emergency Medical Care, Spay/Neuter Services for homeless animals and assisting pet owners on a limited budget.

Small Animal Welfare Organization Making a Big Difference

Description

A SMALL VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION MAKING A BIG DIFFERENCE

Red Rose Inspiration For Animals a local Sedona based 501c3 nonprofit is a very small group of volunteers. Inspired by a rescue pup named Rosey.

In August and September 2017 Red Rose has spent a total of $5,036.34 on programs assisting 52 cats, 20 dogs and 1 rabbit.
The costs included: Emergency Medical Care, Spay/Neuter Services for homeless animals and assisting pet owners on a limited budget. In addition to Special Pet Prescription Food and TNR (Trap/Neuter Release of Feral Felines)

With 9 programs in animal welfare it’s often difficult to fund every single program and continue to keep it fully funded.
However, the need to assist the community continues to grow as we service the whole Verde Valley. Especially Camp Verde, Rimrock, Cornville and Cottonwood.

For more than a year low cost spay/neuter services within our community were extremely limited or non existent which resulted in a tremendous need today. Yet we continued to provide FREE Spay and Neuter during that time and still do today.

Low cost services are financially challenging for many pet owners with costs generally $75.00 and up to and over $125.00 based on weight, medical situations, and the age of animal that requires additional costs for blood work.

We feel fortunate to have been able to make a difference in the lives of so many animals needing our service. Please consider supporting the work, we do, 100% of your donation goes directly to assisting the animals through our programs. No administrative costs or salaries!. Choose the program that touches your heart through Red Rose. . Thank you.

Funding Need for TNR Trap/Spay and Neuter of Feral Cats

In October, November and December we spent over $3,700.00 in assisting homeless animals and pet owners in need.

We are conducting a Diaper Drive for mothers and infants at the Verde Valley Sanctuary Shelter. Please drop off unopened packages of diapers or cash donations/gift cards at Twice Nice on 89A in Sedona.

The shelter, for victims of abuse, can accommodate 28 residents at a time. Typically there are 12 adults and 12 children in residence. The ages and sizes of the children varies daily so the flexibility of gift card or cash donations is greatly appreciated allowing us to go purchase the size and quantity needed. American Flag Display Along 89A

Description

The Sedona Marine Corps League, in cooperation with the City of Sedona, will display American flags along Highway 89A during patriotic holidays throughout the year. We will be seeking donations to support this endeavor. The first flag display will take place from Thursday, November 9 until Monday, November 13 in celebration of Veterans Day.

The Arizona Department of Transportation has granted approval for the City of Sedona and the Sedona Marine Corps League to display American flags from fifty light poles along 89A in honor of Veterans Day. Next year, we hope to increase the number of flags permitted for this patriotic display. Flags will be hung just prior to upcoming holidays and remain on display for several days. Planned holidays for displays in 2018 are Presidents’ Day, Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day.

Volunteers interested in helping with this project should contact Ray Ojeida at 219-712-0489 or Ray Stueve at 928-821-3300. Fundraising will support flag display and the organization’s other charitable efforts.

We have recently taken in several bunnies and a guinea pig. Prior to that we had another bunny and pet mice. Donations can be purchased locally and dropped of at 2115 Shelby Road from 10AM to 4PM 7 days/week, or purchase on Amazon.com and have donations sent directly to us. Materials to make planters for school gardens

See all wishes from Gardens for Humanity

Description

Gardens for Humanity is Helping Schools in our Region Develop Effective Learning Gardens.

There are a variety of school gardens and we need a variety of materials.

For container gardens: 10 -15 gallon nursery tubs or any appropriate large size pot or container. Even old galvanized water tanks can make durable planters.

For raised planting beds: Lumber in good condition (can be used but not split or rotten) 2x6 lengths no shorter than 4 feet. Long pieces to 16 feet would be wonderful! 4x4 posts over 1 foot in length for corner braces.

Lag bolts from 4 to 6 inches long.

Many schools could use sturdy fencing material, weed barrier cloth, hardware cloth, and wood chips. Good planting soil with no chemicals is always welcome.

If you do not have used materials donations are always welcome. You can donate specifically for school gardens on the Donate page of our website: gardensforhumanity.org

The school garden movement has clearly engaged many schools. To maximize the impact, we will help schools plan and integrate their garden into the curriculum. The school's garden program can help promote good nutrition, an understanding of where our food comes from, hands-on experience with the environment, as well as cooperative learning in the arts and humanities.

Help Us Organize the Sedona Arts Festival!

See all wishes from Sedona Arts Festival

Description

The Sedona Arts Festival is looking for people who are fun, organized, and committed to help us organize our annual festival, held the second weekend in October every year. SAF is in its 27th year and produces Sedona's oldest and largest premiere arts event. This year's festival dates are Oct 7 and 8, 2017.

For this year's festival, we are specifically looking for:

RAFFLE TEAM - an organizational team (2 or 3 people) to put together our raffle booth. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SOLICIT DONATIONS FOR THE RAFFLE. Our raffle prizes are all donated from the artists who are participating in the festival so you don't have to ask for a thing! We just need a few good organizers who can prepare, set up, and run the booth smoothly. We have an experienced group of volunteers to support you!

SITE CREW - we are looking for a core team to take on all the logistics of the festival itself - field layout, artist set up, festival weekend logistics, tear down, and clean up. We have an experienced Site Manager to support you but we are looking for a co-chair for him. He has been woefully understaffed the last two years and we would so appreciate any help you can give us in this area!

We are a fun and flexible group with a fabulous annual event. If you like us enough to join our Board of Directors, we are always looking for people to serve year round in our efforts as an organization. The Sedona Arts Festival financially supports arts education in our community through grants and scholarships. The annual festival is ultimately a fund raiser for that mission.

We would love it if you would join us! Can't wait to hear from you!

Pet Friendly Shelter Project

See all wishes from Verde Valley Sanctuary

Description

48% of people suffering from domestic abuse need help caring for their pets. It’s not uncommon for person to stay with their abuser if they cannot bring their pet, or pets, into our shelter. Bringing pets into an already crowed group house can be very complicated. Most people really need their pets in the room with them; not boarded out. We want to develop an adjoining property (next to our current shelter) into a pet friendly, four-bedroom shelter. This is a cost-effective chance for us without building from scratch. Purchase cost will be $120,000. Modification costs will be $60,000. Our first year operation cost $45,000. Total $225,000. We have started a dedicated capital fund toward this goal. This is an interesting and creative project. (There are only a few domestic violence shelter that take pets.)

Back to School Boost!

See all wishes from Verde Valley Sanctuary

Description

Back To School Items!! 50% of our shelter residents and Outreach client's are children --often traumatized and now without belongings. They need backpacks, paper, pens, clothing, all types of school supplies. Even your cash donation sent to VVS can be marked "children's school supplies' and we will carefully apply the money to the children - we will take them to Walmart with their mother! Children are our priority. It's critical that we give them the boost they deserve. Domestic violence really sets a child back --often effecting the rest of their life. Help us break the cycle.

Bird Volunteers needed for Peace Garden

See all wishes from Gardens for Humanity

Description

Attention bird lovers! We need volunteers to visit the Peace Garden at the Sedona Creative Life Center to make sure that the bird feeders are well stocked. Mornings or evenings when the temperature is cooler and the birds are more active would be the best time to check up that our feathered friends have everything they need. The Peace Garden is a paradise in the midst of Sedona with native plants, fruit trees, ornamental shrubs all thriving in a park-like setting. The Peace Pole and many of the trees from around the world are part of a meditative web of beauty and global peace. Volunteers can explore the garden when there and perhaps find a special place of beauty and contemplation. There are secluded shady places to sit and absorb the quite energy of nature when you come to visit.

Scientific Calculators

The right tools make a difference! We try to provision our students for the transition to secondary school. It is expensive for rural Ugandan students to go to the next level of education. Scientific calculators only cost $18 each but that is often more than a sponsor can provide when faced with all the mandatory items a student requires to move to secondary. Please help by providing a donation to the Calculator Fund at BwindiCommunityProgram.org or by writing a check to Bwindi Community Program and mailing it to 20 Soldiers Trail, Sedona AZ 86336. It is the little things that make the difference between success and a mediocre attempt. These students deserve all the ammunition we can provide!

Scientific Calculators

See all wishes from Bwindi Community Program

Description

Students in secondary school in Uganda benefit from being able to use scientific calculators. The transition from primary school requires a lot of provisioning of these students; supplies mandated by the school and personal items for the year of boarding. Bwindi Community Program asks the sponsors to provide a great deal to make this transition comfortable for our rural students. Scientific calculators are not mandatory so are not on the list. But scientific calculators for each student can make a difference in performance. BCP wants to make certain that all the sponsored students have the tools to do well. The calculators only cost $18 each. So much good will come out of so little! Please help the students achieve their goals by having the best tools.

Can you make planter dollies for school container garden?

See all wishes from Gardens for Humanity

Is there a person you know with the tools and know-how who can fabricate some dollies for containers for a garden at Big Park Elementary School?

The dollies are made with 5 pieces of 2 x 4 16" long. They are screwed together with deck screws and have a metal brace in the corners. They are finished off with rotating coaster wheels. See the accompanying photo. We could use about a dozen of them in total. A great project for a men's group or service club.

Students will use the dollies to hold their planting tubs of 10-15 gallon size which they will need to be able to move.

Annual Yard Sale Items

See all wishes from Running River School

Description

It's that time of year again! Running River School is putting out the call for donations of items in good condition to sell at our Annual Yard Sale Fundraiser.

Running River School continues to be operated almost exclusively by parent volunteers. Currently the only paid positions are the teachers. Your donation of unwanted items, that gets turned into financial support, goes directly to support the children and the teachers. You can feel doubly helpful that you are also participating in sustainable practices by recycling your unwanted items!

We can pick up a large amount of items, or large items like furniture. If you have just a few things we would appreciate it if you could drop them off at Goodrow Lane (across from Safeway and behind Sedona Rouge, NOT off of 89A), near the garage. Thank you, in advance, for your support! Please call 919-895-8612 to schedule a convenient pick up, or for more information.

Thank you for your consideration!

Nursury tubs for school garden planters.

See all wishes from Gardens for Humanity

Description

We are looking for empty tubs that trees or shrubs come in to use for classroom container gardening. These would be the large, approximately 10-15 gallon size.

These tubs will find new life being recycled as planters at Big Park Elementary School. They are perfect child-size containers that will be used to plant vegetables and learn about botany and the joy and science of growing your own food.

We also need donations of square-foot garden soil mix and some peat moss to fill the containers.

With spring fast approaching, this would be a great addition to several classrooms in Sedona providing students with a quick and easy garden.

Check out BwindiCommunityProgram.org or contact Jan Tanis at 204-1135. These students deserve all the available tools!

Making Charms

See all wishes from SedonaKind

Description

Kindness Charm Story

A group of women in Sedona have been focused on a special approach to kindness for over four years. The women have been making "Kindness" charms out of broken, recycled and surplus donated jewelry and dispersing them, not only around Sedona, but across the nation and world wide.

Each Charm had a tag that says "Take me home and spread kindness". To date the women have distributed over 4,000 charms to every state in the US and over three dozen countries, in the hope that they are found by someone that needs to be reminded that they are loved.
Donations can be dropped off at Remax at the Safeway Plaza or
Goldenstein Gallery on Dry Creek Rd.

Description

CHARMING DEN

When the Kindness Charmers outgrew their current space we sent out a plea for help. We didn’t want to turn away Charmers and we also needed space to leave our donated materials. Lori Reinhold, Manager of Alma de Sedona, stepped up without hesitation to provide us with a new “Den”. It’s the perfect location with seating for 20+, and lush views out every window. Lori sealed the deal baking us an awesome blueberry cake! After seeing the unique guest rooms, pool, gardens and pond…we can’t wait to return next month; and we now know where to suggest out-of-towners stay. Thank you also to Laurie Dawe who has been our Den Mother for the past four years, graciously sharing her home with us. Visit Alma de Sedona online. Alma de Sedona Website.

KIS kids in school

See all wishes from SedonaKind

nopic

Description

Remember the rock ‘n roll band KISS? Well, we’re SO MUCH COOLER than they are!!!! Why, you ask? The Kindness in School’s (KIS) mission is to acknowledge students’ kindness to create a more compassionate and considerate environment in the school, classroom and on the playground. This promotes Value of Self, Acceptance and Friendship. Our goals are to help students understand what kindness is and to recognize, encourage and acknowledge ‘acts of kindness’ in everyday life. Finally, the objective is to encourage and support teachers and staff in recognizing and promoting ‘acts of kindness’ in their schools.

WOW! HEAVY words and AMBITIOUS goals! SO, why all the excitement and why is this SO COOL?! BECAUSE if YOU get involved at the ground floor as we go into the elementary grades, this is where the seeds germinate. BUT, you all know that old time honored adage “It takes a village…”! Well, we need that village and we need it NOW! We don’t expect you to go solo into a classroom or spend hours of slave labor but would you be willing to check us out and see if you could become part of KIS to do something. Children promoting kindness are our hope for the future and if that’s not WAY COOLER than KISS…
