The mission of the organization is twofold. It would like every girl to have one new dress. The label on the front of each helps identify that the girl is being cared for in the hope that will reduce human trafficking. Founded by Rachel Eggum Cinader, in 10 years the organization has delivered 1,500,000 dresses to girls in more than 80 third world locations!
Volunteers and fabric are needed. People with access to a sewing machine are needed to stitch simple sundresses--only seven straight lines plus patch pockets. One yard of cotton or cotton-blend will make most sizes. You can use your own fabric or use materials the leader has on hand. Pattern and instructions can be downloaded from the Internet or emailed to you. How-to-sew training can be provided. Creativity is celebrated, but not required.

Since July 15, 2019 the local leader is Lin Ennis who has personally sewn 100 dresses. Fifty-six of those have already been shipped overseas through the Phoenix chapter. All monies received locally have been used for supplies to build the Sedona Affiliate (there are AZ chapters in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tucson).

Anyone can go to the website to retrieve measurements and guidelines for the dresses. Dresses may be handed back to the organization to distribute or distribution can be delegated to anyone with the capabilities, so long as the number distributed with the DAG label is sent to the home office.

Dress a Girl is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization. However, until the Sedona Affiliation becomes an official chapter, it cannot issue tax-deductible receipts locally.
